Who is the target population that should receive P.R.E.P. training?

P.R.E.P. focuses on helping ages 14-19 in foster care, group home, residential care or the juvenile justice system (correctional facilities & detention centers).

Who provides the training?

The Region 8 P.R.E.P. Coordinator conducts all staff trainings, then trained staff administer the curriculum with youth participants.

How much time is needed to be trained in the P.R.E.P. curriculum?

The P.R.E.P. training is twelve hours which is divided into two six hour days.  The two day training can be consecutive days or a couple weeks apart.

Where do trainings take place?

Trainings may take place at the location of the P.R.E.P. Coordinator-Summit County Public Health or at the agency receiving the training.

What is the cost of the P.R.E.P. training?

P.R.E.P. training is free to agency staff working with foster, residential and juvenile justice system youth within Region 8 (Ashland, Crawford, Erie, Huron, Marion, Medina, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Summit and Wyandot).

How much time does it take to present the P.R.E.P. program to a class of youth?

The P.R.E.P. program consists of 20 sessions which takes a total of 16 hours to complete.  Each session has an allotted amount of time.

Does the P.R.E.P. program offer incentives to youth for participating?

Yes, if youth participants complete 75% of the sessions, they receive a $25.00 gift card and the class instructor can receive a $50.00 gift card for completing the course in 30 days.
